Music Time and Music Club classes for primary age pupils
Children often display a love of music from an early age. For those pupils who are interested in developing real musical skills, the Music Service offers classes for KS1 and KS2 students at it’s Saturday Morning Music Centre in Bath.
Music Time is for pupils who are 4-7 years old and aims to develop skills in the basic building blocks of music-principally pulse, rhythm and pitch, through fun games and activities and a small amount of recorder playing.
Music Club extends the skills built in Music Time and focusses more on developing music notation reading skills, with more emphasis on recorder playing. Once pupils can play and read an octave, they have the option to join the Training Band which is part of the Music Centre’s progression route. There are also opportunities to learn the bassoon or oboe at the Centre.
For a taster session, just drop into the Music Centre at the West Wing at Hayesfield (please view the calendar in the Ensembles and Music Centres area of this site). Music Time runs from 9.30am-10.15am and Music Club from 10.15am – 11.00am.
For those pupils who are interested in joining Music Time classes on a Saturday, after school clubs currently run at Newbridge, St Johns Midsomer Norton, St Mary’s Bath and Saltford primary schools. Please use the contact us area on this site to enquire about spaces.
