Music Centre Ensembles Celebrate the end of year in style!
In the last few weeks of term, the Music Service ensembles have celebrated the end of year with numerous exciting concerts across B&NES.
Musicians from all four of the Music Services music centres, in Keynsham, Bath and Midsomer Norton, enjoyed performing to proud parents, relatives and members of the public, presenting programmes that had been prepared in the weekly rehearsals running up to the events. Each concert offered a varied programme of music and included string groups, brass ensembles, wind bands, guitar ensembles and choirs, as well as a full symphony orchestra.
The final concert took place at the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon where the county’s senior ensembles, Brass Tacks, Cantilena, SWB and SPO performed to a large audience. The level of performance was utterly stunning with the audience responding with rapturous applause for each ensemble. The music performed ranged from vocal Spirituals and original works for wind band to Copland’s Rodeo, maintaining the audience’s interest throughout.
One proud mother commented, ‘…..this was absolutely magnificent and showcased the talented musicians within the county…. it was a real treat to hear SPO and the beautiful Cantilena. I thought the singing was particularly wonderful….The children of B&NES are extremely fortunate to have had these opportunities and they have been lucky to have been involved with such a lovely team of musical tutors.’
