Students Enjoy a Fun Packed Music Course at Bryanston School!

75 Students from B&NES celebrated the end of an exciting course at Bryanston School in Dorset with a fantastic concert to parents and family in the new music theatre.

The students enjoyed a 4 day course with tutors from B&NES Music Service. Students had the opportunity to develop ensemble skills in a choir, full orchestra, wind band, string ensemble and percussion ensemble. They also had the opportunity to get creative in preparation for a composition competition which took place on Saturday evening. The students were split into 4 groups and worked together to produce a work based on a number of different stimuli. All 4 performances were stunning so it was unsurprising that the votes were very tight. The winning group produced a fantastic composition with included choreography and body percussion as well as instrumental playing, which they performed to parents and family as part of the end of term concert on Sunday afternoon.

As well as enhancing their musical skills, students also took part in sporting activities at the school sport centre (including a 7am swim for some!) and enjoyed a fun-packed quiz on Friday evening.

The course ended with a fantastic lunch for parents and friends before a stunning concert which displayed just a small proportion of the music that the students had worked on during the course. Parents were treated to a wide range of repertoire including Bernstein’s Mambo, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, a percussion composition in 19/8 time! and Goodnight Sweetheart by the Overtones.

There was a great atmosphere throughout the course with many new friendships developing throughout. All the students worked incredibly hard and worked together in a really supportive manner resulting in a fun time for all-students and teachers alike!
